Fire Damaged Home Needed Gutted Before Repair
After a fire you will likely have several types of damage. Smoke is basically fuel that didn't burn, made visible by the presence of small particles of carbon and other material. It is essential, that all of the soot and debris is removed — the sooner it is gone, the quicker the smell of smoke odor will disappear. If structural framing is damaged, as in the case here in the photo, some portions may need to be replaced. Even scorched timber should be cleaned to remove the smoke smell. A sealant is used to completely get rid of the smoke odor.
In this case, SERVPRO of Fredericksburg had no other option but to take down the walls to be replaced. In some cases, you do not need to do this, but this fire was quite large.
